Mr Tong joined the Bank of East Asia, Limited (“BEA”) in 1975. He was promoted to Assistant General Manager in 1995 and to General Manager in 2000. He was General Manager & Head of Personal Banking Division from 2001 to March 2009. He was further promoted to Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer in April 2009. With years of experience in retail banking and corporate banking businesses, Mr Tong is now primarily responsible for strategic planning and control, operations support, compliance, human resources, and corporate communications of BEA. He is also a Director of various members of BEA Group and a Member of various committees appointed by the BEA Board. Mr Tong is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators as well as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. He holds a BSc from the University of Manchester.
