Financial Dispute Resolution Centre launches Free Public Enquiry Meeting for the Public

(Hong Kong - 23 January 2013) The Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC) is launching free enquiry meeting services for the public. In the enquiry meetings, the public can find out how FDRC can help them resolve their financial disputes with financial institutions by way of “Mediation First, Arbitration Next”.

“The public may be interested to learn more about how our services may help them with their financial disputes. We can explain the benefits of mediation and arbitration. We seek to provide a user-friendly and easily accessible service to the public. These enquiry meetings are free and interested parties are invited to attend,” said Ms. Sou Chiam, FDRC Chief Executive Officer.

In addition to two day-time enquiry meetings every Wednesday, an evening session is being held every Thursday. During the enquiry meetings, FDRC Case Officers will meet with individual members of the public to explain the case intake criteria, mediation and arbitration processes, and answer any questions members of the public may have on their specific cases. Members of the public are advised to call FDRC if they wish to attend.

Session Free Public Enquiry Meetings
A    Every Wednesday, except public holidays 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
B    Every Wednesday, except public holidays 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
C    Every Thursday, except public holidays 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

“We understand that some members of the public prefer face-to-face discussions with our Case Officers on their financial disputes after making initial phone enquiries. As they may only be able to join our enquiry meetings after work, we have set up an evening session to cater to their needs. As we are serving the community, we are pleased to extend our services to meet public needs,” Ms. Chiam added.

To register for one of these enquiry meetings, please call FDRC Hotline at 3199 5199. To learn more about updates on these enquiry meeting and FDRC services, please visit the FDRC website at www.fdrc.org.hk.
