The Financial Dispute Resolution Centre (FDRC) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the FDRC x HKSYU “Mediation Workshop for Youth 2026” on 16 May. Senior form students from six secondary schools participated in this full-day experiential learning workshop, featuring a series of guided activities designed to introduce the fundamental concepts of mediation, its role in dispute resolution, with applications extending to real-life situations.
FDRC extends its sincere gratitude to Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) for co‑organising this meaningful event. Special thanks are owed to Professor Leung Hing Fung, Head of Department of Law and Business for his leadership and strong support, as well as to Dr Tang Yi for her valuable contribution and active participation, which together ensured the smooth running of the event. This workshop provided secondary school students to gain early exposure to mediation and a deeper understanding of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in practical contexts. The workshop also provided a valuable opportunity for participants to engage with FDRC, a non-profit organisation committed to providing an effective platform for the financial dispute resolution.
FDRC also extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr Peter Ma, an FDRC Mediator, for delivering an insightful and highly engaging lecture alongside professional demonstrations. Through clear, well-structured explanations and vivid, practical case studies, Mr Ma enabled students to gain a comprehensive understanding of how mediation operates in practice. His interactive approach further encouraged students to consider different perspectives in dispute resolution, deepening their understanding of mediation skills, communication strategies, and the importance of neutrality. His professional and inspiring delivery not only enhanced students’ interest in mediation but also strengthened their confidence in mediation as an effective form of ADR, greatly enriching the overall learning experience of the workshop.
In addition, we also express our heartfelt appreciation to all participating FDRC Mediators who served as judges during the roleplay sessions, providing professional guidance and constructive feedback. Their sharing of practical experience offered students valuable insights into the real-world practice of mediation and significantly enhanced the overall learning experience.
FDRC also thanks all participating secondary schools for their strong support, as well as the students for their enthusiasm, attentiveness, and active engagement throughout the lecture and roleplay sessions.
Finally, FDRC warmly congratulates all participants and award recipients on their effort and growth throughout the workshop. Moving forward, FDRC will continue promote mediation education, enhance young people’s understanding and application of mediation and other ADR methods, thereby nurturing individuals with strong communication skills, empathy, and constructive problem-solving abilities, while further supporting the effective and sustainable financial dispute resolution.
